Improvement in Hypertension Symptoms and Measurement Readings of Blood Pressure with Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation in Hypertensive Patients having Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS)

چکیده

Hypertension is a common comorbidity in obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). OSAHS can raise blood pressures to pre-hypertensive and hypertensive ranges, increase the prevalence of 'non-dipping' overnight pressure patterns, risk resistant hypertension.

Efficiency and outcome of non-invasive versus invasive positive pressure ventilation therapy in respiratory failure due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Background: Application noninvasive ventilation in the patients with exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) reduced mortality. This case-control study was designed to compare efficiency and outcome of non-invasive (NIV) versus invasive positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) in respiratory failure due to COPD Methods: The patients were assigned to NIV or IPPV intermittantl...

Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) in stable patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

While non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) has become an accepted management approach for patients with acute hypercapnia, it remains unclear whether it can also be beneficial in stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with chronic respiratory failure. Randomised controlled trials (RCT) with a maximum duration of 3 months showed contradictory effects in blood ...

Introducing non-invasive positive pressure ventilation.

Non-invasive ventilation techniques provide and enhance alveolar ventilation without the need for an endotracheal airway. These techniques are increasingly being used by nurses to manage patients with type 2 respiratory failure. The author outlines the advantages of, and criteria and contraindications for, using bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP).

Can nasal continuous positive airway pressure decrease clinic blood pressure in patients with obstructive sleep apnea?

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is commonly associated with systemic hypertension and now recognized as an independent risk factor for daytime hypertension. We aimed to study the short- and long-term effect of nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in hypertensive and normotensive patients with OSA. Forty-six patients with moderated to severe OSA were treated with nasal CPAP and followe...

Continuous positive airway pressure therapy is associated with improvement in overactive bladder symptoms in women with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome

INTRODUCTION To evaluate the impact of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy on overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms in women with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). MATERIAL AND METHODS One-hundred and fifty women underwent an overnight polysomnography study between May 2014 and September 2014. Their voiding symptoms were evaluated using the OAB symptom score (OABSS) and Inte...
